Simply Abundant Paths to Joy!
It was May of 1999 and my family had just moved to the seacoast of New Hampshire. Because we wouldn’t be able to move into our new home for two months, we lived with friends.
I spent hours dreaming of our home, the first one of our own. It was important to me that we create a home that not only served our growing family well, but also welcomed friends and family graciously.
At the time, Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Simple Abundance was a bestseller, providing daily inspiration for women seeking to live into their authentic selves. The reflections for May happened to be all about homemaking, providing perfectly timed inspiration as I planned for our new house.
As I reread those reflections this month, the seeds of Spirit & Space appeared before my eyes. These two excerpts really resonated:
May 16: There is an ancient metaphysical law that says if we desire more abundance in our lives, we must create a vacuum to allow ourselves to receive the good we seek. How can more good come into our lives if there is no room for it? The way we create the vacuum is by giving away what we no longer need or desire, but what can serve others.
May 17: Every cleared junk drawer, each closet, each successful attempt at organizing only reinforces your feelings of taking back control of your life. I had never really considered how being disorganized beneath the surface had weighed upon my mind. But once I cleared away the clutter, I felt a wonderful sense of renewal, joy, and inner peace.
In many ways, this is the heart of Spirit & Space. Twenty-six years ago, I couldn’t have imagined that I would be helping others find more joy in their homes. Now, we help others find joy through home organizing, relocation support, collectibles advising, public speaking, and now a DIY option: The Peaceful Home Bundle.
The digital guides are the newest way to help others find more peace at home. (They are the closest thing to having a professional organizer guiding your work on a DIY budget!) I hope that someone out there gains as much joy from using the digital guides as I did from pouring over those reflections all those years ago.
