Beat Clothing Chaos
It’s the one thing from Marie Kondo that I put into practice. Vertical folding is a game changer.
If you have stacks of shirts or other clothing items in your drawer, do you ever wear the ones on the bottom? Heck, do you even remember what you have under there?
Vertical folding allows you to slip items in and out of the drawer and see your options. Fold shirts into thirds to create little packages that stand up on their sides. No more forgotten favorites!
Other tips for efficient organizing for clothes and accessories:
Change to slim line hangers. Besides creating more space, they put everything at the same level, significantly reducing visual clutter in the closet.
Try space-saving hangers that allow you to hang multiple items together, such as six shirts or four pairs of pants.
If you have plenty of hanging space but are lacking small places to tuck things, get creative with hanging storage options. Hang fabric shoe organizers for belts, accessories, seasonal clothing, even toiletry supplies.
Take advantage of vertical space in your closet. Use drawer or cube units on shelves as well as under short hanging clothes. Stack sweaters and sweats on shelves with dividers between the stacks so they don’t fall over.
Minimize drawer clutter by using organizers for socks, lingerie, scarves, and other small items. No need to purchase organizing products (although great inexpensive items are available); use box bottoms and tops to keep items together. For instance, folding sock pairs vertically in a shoe box in a drawer is a great way to be able to grab the pair you want, when you want it.
Finding efficient ways to organize your clothes makes getting ready that much easier and enjoyable.
